Did you know that the transition to Menopause can be easy?
We have been conditioned to believe that hot flushes, night sweats, insomnia, mood swings and heavy, clotting periods are normal. Ayurvedic principles and treatments show us how to transition easily and settle those symptoms down.
As we move from the years of Pitta to the Vata phase of life, women experience hormonal changes in numerous ways. If a woman has a buildup of Ama in the body, the symptoms associated with menopause may be severe. This is why Ayurveda suggests regular and seasonal detoxification procedures.
As estrogen starts to decrease it is important to balance both Vata and Pitta dosha through diet and lifestyle habits. These habits are preventative measures for maintaining bone health and preventing osteoporosis. Weight bearing exercise is suggested.
It is important to take into consideration mental health during menopause. We have female clients who share their increased feelings of depression, anxiety, insomnia, anger, irritability during this time of transition. A combination of pranayama, yoga and meditation can be very beneficial in easing menopausal symptoms.
At this stage of life we are often met with other stresses. Looking after elderly parents as they age, losing loved ones and often changes in our own family structures can affect women during this time.
For women in management or corporate roles or small business owners, these years can have the added stress of finances and business decisions to be made.
Ayurveda can support you through this stage including all of the symptoms and sources of stress.
